Enhanced Blue Fluorescent Protein

EBFP2 is an enhanced blue fluorescent protein, a genetically optimized variant of the fluorescent protein from the Aequorea jellyfish. It has a higher brightness and is more photostable. With an excitation wavelength of 380 nm and an emission wavelength of 448 nm, it is twice as bright as the original EBFP and 550 times more photostable, making it an ideal blue probe for live - cell imaging.

EBFP2 performs well in long - term live - cell imaging, especially in two - photon excitation experiments where near - UV light damage needs to be minimized. Also, as an FRET donor for EGFP, it shows typical GFP - like behavior, making it a great choice for FRET studies involving green fluorescent proteins.

Further dilutions should be made in appropriate buffered solutions.
